The grant-funded Martin County Early Childhood Specialists’ Program by the Children’s Services Council of Martin County provides early childhood classroom teachers, assistants, and directors with Florida-certified educators with experience in providing high-quality, standards-based instruction. These coaches promote collaborative learning environments, and they are certified Teachstone CLASS observers to promote language-building interactions between teachers and students. Coaches are assigned to specific providers allowing teacher-specific professional development to meet the unique learner’s needs and challenges. The Early Childhood Specialists support children living in poverty, since they are at-risk for school failure; respond to teachers’ needs and interests; and help to prepare children for success in Kindergarten and beyond.
